Chorley firm wins 'green' award


A business in Chorley has been hailed as a “Green Business Hero” after picking-up an honour from the Northwest Business Environment Awards 2008.

Pincroft Dyeing and Printing Company’s review of existing processes, resetting timers and raising environmental awareness amongst staff helped them to achieve first prize in the Best Environmental Practice category.

Now in its sixth year, the awards are the region’s only large-scale professional event to recognise and celebrate environmental and business excellence in industry.

Steven Broomhead, Chief Executive at the North West Development Agency, said: “These awards are an ideal opportunity to recognise the innovative work that is being carried out by a range of companies throughout England’s Northwest.

Hunt for Chorley knife robber



CHORLEY Police have issued an E-Fit of a man they want to speak to in connection with a knife point robbery in Chorley last month.

The incident took place at the Detour Menswear Shop on Cheapside in Chorley town centre around 3.30pm on Thursday 29th May.

The offender, brandished a large kitchen knife, entered the shop and threatened a 15 year old boy, who was minding the shop at the time and stole money from the till.

The offender is described as a dark skinned black man, aged in his twenties, approximately 5ft9ins tall, of athletic build.

He was clean shaven with short dark cropped/shaved hair and distinctively had approximately four top row front teeth missing.

He wore a dark coloured hooded top with stripes down the sleeves and lighter coloured bottoms.

He also wore an item of clothing often described as a 'neck warmer', commonly called a 'Buff', which can also be worn as a hat or used as a face covering.

Goods stolen from Chorley frozen foods store


Police are appealing for information following a theft at a Chorley supermarket.

A woman stole items from the Farmfoods frozen goods supermarket, in Market Street, Chorley, on Wednesday, at 8.40am.

Chorley charity abseil planned


A charity is taking fundraising to new heights by challenging people to abseil down a Chorley shopping centre.

The charity Marie Curie is asking people to abseil down the side Botany Bay to raise money to pay for more nurses to help cancer sufferers.

Fundraisers must raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship and must be over 17, but anyone interested in scaling the five storey mill can ring 01772 749797 or email lyn.fenton@mariecurie.org.uk for details.
